Netflix Kids used to be the one place I could put on and not check. Since 2025 Netflix has been bringing kids' YouTube creators onto the app as shows, and some of them are their YouTube videos put together into episodes. You can block any show by name on your kid's profile so it stops showing up.
What changed
Netflix has been signing YouTube creators and turning their channels into shows. Salish and Jordan Matter's show, for example, is their challenge and prank videos pulled from years of YouTube uploads, and more keep coming, like The Besties. They show up on a Kids profile right next to the cartoons, so that profile isn't only TV shows anymore.
Why this matters for your kid
If YouTube is a no in your house, this is YouTube coming in through a different door. It's the same pranks, stunts and fast cuts that are made to keep kids clicking, and once they watch one, Netflix suggests the next one. Your kid didn't have to go looking for it either, because it shows up on the profile you set up for them.
How to block a show on Netflix
Netflix lets you block any show or movie by name. For a Kids profile you have to do it in a web browser, not in the app. Go to your Account page, then Profiles, choose Adjust parental controls and pick your kid's profile. Netflix will ask for your password or send you a code. Under Title Restrictions, type the show's name, tap it when it comes up, and hit Save. You might need to restart the app on the TV before it shows the change. It only blocks it on that one profile, so do it for each kid. To bring a show back, tap the X next to it.
What I'd set up
Set the maturity rating on their profile to what fits their age, then scroll through their home rows once and block the creator shows you don't want. New ones keep getting added, so it's worth a look every few weeks. Put a lock on your own profile too, under Profile Lock, or they'll just switch over to yours.
