Smurf Account

Explained for parents by The Digital Childhood.

What it means

A secondary gaming account made to play against less experienced players. Kids use them to beat beginners easily, for videos or just to feel good, and they’re common in Fortnite, Valorant and Roblox. It’s really about hiding how good you are, or who you are, online.

How to bring it up with your kid

"Do you know what a smurf account is? Do any of your friends have one?" It's a good way to talk about why somebody would want to hide who they are online.
