What it means
To send a direct message to someone you are interested in romantically, usually on Instagram or Snapchat. Often the first move in a flirtation, and often from strangers.
How to bring it up with your kid
"I keep hearing people say someone slid into their DMs. Has that happened to anyone you know? I am not assuming it has happened to you, I am just curious how the social part of this works now." Curiosity beats accusation.
