What it means
A one-sided emotional relationship with a content creator, streamer, or celebrity. The viewer feels deeply connected, the creator does not know they exist. Extremely common with YouTubers, Twitch streamers, and TikTokers. Can lead to real emotional distress when creators disappoint or stop posting.
How to bring it up with your kid
"Do you ever feel like you actually know a creator you watch? That feeling is real, but the relationship is one-sided, they don't know you. That doesn't mean your feelings aren't valid, it just means it's worth understanding what kind of connection it actually is."
