Gemini

Explained for parents by The Digital Childhood.

What it means

Google's AI chatbot. It's built into Android phones, Google search and a lot of school Google accounts, and kids under 13 can use it through a parent's Family Link. The parent setting is pretty much just on or off, and kids under 18 can't make pictures with it.

How to bring it up with your kid

"Does Gemini show up on your Chromebook or your phone? What have you used it for?" A lot of kids use it at school without thinking of it as AI.
