What it means
Manipulating someone into questioning their own reality or feelings. "You're gaslighting me." Widely overused by teens for any disagreement, but the real version is a serious form of emotional manipulation worth understanding.
How to bring it up with your kid
"What does gaslighting mean to you? Because there's a difference between someone disagreeing with you and someone trying to make you doubt yourself." Helps them distinguish between normal conflict and actual manipulation.
