Face Rating Apps
Explained for parents by The Digital Childhood.
What it means
AI apps, like Umax, where a kid uploads a selfie and gets a score for how attractive they are, plus a breakdown of their jawline, skin and eyes and a plan to "fix" them. They're a big part of looksmaxxing, and most of them charge a subscription.
How to bring it up with your kid
"Have you or your friends ever put your face into one of those rating apps?" If they have, I'd want to know what number it gave them, because they'll remember it. An app has no business telling a twelve year old what's wrong with their face.
