What it means

A messaging and voice/video chat platform built for gaming communities but widely used by teens. It has public servers, which are communities anyone can join, and private ones. Most of it’s harmless, but some servers have adult content or people pulling kids toward extreme ideas. Discord requires users to be 13 or older.

How to bring it up with your kid

"Are you on Discord? What servers are you in?" I'd want to know. Discord servers are private, the chats never stop, and you can't see any of it from the outside, so the only way you'll know is if they tell you.
