Catfish

What it means
Pretending to be someone you aren’t online, usually to start a fake relationship. Catfishing happens through fake Instagram, Snapchat, or gaming accounts and can target younger teens emotionally. Most kids have heard the word, but they often think it only happens to other people.
How to bring it up with your kid
"Have you ever talked to someone online who turned out to be someone else? It happens more than people think. If you've only talked to someone online, you don't really know who they are, so no pictures, and no meeting up without me." I'd say this one plainly and calmly, and they don't need to feel embarrassed about any of it.
