Going live removes the two things that make posting a video reasonably safe, which are the chance to edit it and the choice about whether to publish it at all.
There is no draft and no undo
A recorded video can be watched back, cut and abandoned. A live one is out as it happens, so a moment your kid would never have posted is already seen, and on some apps the whole thing is saved afterwards whether they wanted that or not.
Strangers type at them in real time
The comments arrive while your kid is on camera and trying to respond, and some adults use exactly that pressure on purpose to get a child to do or say something. It is the interaction that is the risk here rather than the video, which is why recording is genuinely safer and not just a compromise.
It broadcasts where they are
A live stream from a bedroom shows the bedroom, and a live stream from outside shows the street and the uniform and the walk home. Details that mean nothing on their own add up quickly when they arrive as a set.
