What Happens When Kids Go Live
Going live takes away the two things that make posting a video fairly safe. Your kid can't edit it, and they can't decide afterward whether it goes up at all.
There's no draft and no undo
A recorded video can be watched back, cut or deleted. A live one is out there while it's happening, so the moment your kid never would have posted has already been seen. On some apps the whole thing gets saved afterward whether they wanted it or not.
Strangers type at them in real time
The comments come in while your kid is on camera trying to answer them, and there are adults who use that pressure on purpose to get a kid to say or do something. The risk is in that back and forth, so recording instead of going live really is safer. It's the safer choice.
It shows where they are
A live stream from their bedroom shows their bedroom, and one from outside can show the street, their school uniform and the way they walk home. None of that means much by itself, but it adds up fast when somebody's watching all of it.
