AI Apps That Make Fake Nude Pictures

There are AI apps that can take a normal photo of somebody, fully clothed, and turn it into a fake nude in seconds. Kids are using them on classmates, the images look real, and it's already happened at a lot of schools.

Why this matters for your kid

All one of these apps needs is a regular photo from a class group chat or an Instagram post. It can be used on any kid, including kids who did nothing but show up in a picture, so it's worth understanding even if you can't imagine your own kid going near it.

What it's like for your kid

For the kid who gets targeted, it's a nightmare. Even though the picture's fake, it's really humiliating for them, and it spreads fast. For the kid who made it, it usually starts as a "joke" or a dare in a group chat, and they don't realize they've just made something that can seriously hurt another kid and get the police involved.

Say it before it comes up

There aren't really any signs to watch for with this one, so I'd get ahead of it and talk about it before it ever happens. These apps exist. Making or sharing one of these pictures of another kid is a real crime, even if it started as a joke. And if it ever happens to them, it's not their fault, and they come straight to you. If it does happen, I wouldn't screenshot it or forward it, even to keep as proof, because a copy of a nude picture of a kid is illegal to have, fake or not.
