Only 8 Circles

For the kid who circles every toy in the catalog, including the one they already have.

Staple this to the front of the toy catalog. Your kid gets 8 circles for the whole thing, so they have to pick the toys they really want.

8 circles. When they’re used up, the list is done.

Only 8 Circles: eight numbered boxes for a page number, a letter and a drawing, and a big My #1 box with a crown

How it works

  1. 1Look first, no penYour kid flips through the whole catalog before circling anything, so they see everything first.
  2. 2Then 8 circlesEvery toy they circle goes in a box: the page number, the little letter next to the toy, and a quick drawing so they remember it.
  3. 38 boxes full, that’s the listNo more circles after that. Looking first is what makes this part easy.
  4. 4Pick a #1Their favorite goes in the big box with the crown. Can’t decide? Rock, paper, scissors, two toys at a time.

Grown-up tip: hand them 8 stickers instead of a marker. When the stickers are gone, they’re done, and nobody has to argue about it.

What you end up with

A real wish list of 8 toys, with page numbers, so you can find every one in seconds. And your kid actually chose them, which is the best part.
